This week, I started to rehearse for a brand new musical called The Best Christmas Pageant Ever based on the book. I am so exited because nobody has ever done the show as a musical before… Our cast will be the original cast! I auditioned for the show at the beginning of the summer and have just now started rehearsing. It has been a long wait but now that it has started I know it was worth it. When I got the email saying that I was cast in the show I was jumping for joy. This is my first time being in a show at the ImaginOn. It is such a professional theatre, and is just overall a beautiful facility. The creative minds that they have on board are just the best. It is not only my first time working with this program but also my first time to play many different roles as an understudy. What this means is that if any of the people I am covering gets sick or injured, I will step in. The show must go on right?!! I was originally told that I was the understudy to Alice and Beth. Alice is a stuck-up brat who is always the star, and Beth is the quiet, smart, yet strong child who stands up for what she believes in. While I was at the parent meeting, we figured out that not only was I the understudy to those two, I would also be understudying Ivy, Alice’s side-kick. I was beginning to get a little stressed when they sent out the script. All of the scenes that Alice had were with Beth and the same went for Alice and Ivy. There is even a whole song with just the three of them alone. What I think will be a challenge will be when I have learned all of the lines and it is time for me to go on as the understudy, I will have to successfully differentiate the one character’s lines from the other two and not say the other lines as well.
